I know I don’t post much anymore, nor do I post many videos, but this song is great. I love City and Colour

Daryl finds the biggest difference between homelessness in Ames and San Francisco is that Ames doesn’t have enough places for people to eat. Daryl finds some consolation in his brother and the local churches.

Daryl talks about his battle with alcoholism. He remembers how earlier that day he considered having a beer, which in his mind would have made the hot weather bearable. He refrained.

Daryl sits at a table at Ames’ Emergency Residence Project men’s temporary housing Wednesday, April 25. Daryl is facing a common issue among Americans: homelessness. He has made his way to Ames from San Francisco. He has heard of people hanging out under the bridge near Duff Avenue but fortunately has found shelter for a brief time at the temporary housing on Kellogg Ave. Currently winning his fight with alcoholism, he is trying to piece his life back together to make his brother and his ex-wife proud. Daryl starts a new job Monday in a town outside Ames and is working to keep alcohol out of the picture, as it was at fault for the failure of his last job. Daryl is all about being positive; “You can’t give up, no matter how hard it gets.”

"To photograph is to hold one’s breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It’s at that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."

Use a coffee sleeve as a DIY lens hood when you’re in a pinch. It’ll save your photos from lens flare. (The one here is by Nick Cool.)
